Grande Island Escape

May 19, 2008 § Leave a comment

I just returned from a harrowing experience over at Grande Island off Subic. Whoever planned this hair-brained outing should be shot for not thinking clearly.

Think of it–while most of Luzon was being battered by two supertyphoons, my company sent us to Grande Island for our usual annual outing. Nothing wrong with that. Except that we did it during the rainy season. Grand.

So, off we go. The sea was choppy. Waves here and there. And the boat was being rocked like a baby’s crib. Despite the howling wind, we arrived at Grande Island and what did we do there?

Nothing.

We were not able to ride the banana boat. No snorkeling. No swimming in the beach due to the strong waves. Worst, the food is not that good.

I only enjoyed tongits. And I won 60 pesos for doing nothing.

Talk about an escape.
