First Case of H1N1 Victim in Philippines

After the first case of A H1N1 virus hit Taiwan, the Phillippine Department of Health (DOH) just confirmed the first case of A H1N1 virus here. The DOH confirmed that the virus caught a 10-year old girl who just came from the United States, one of the first countries which reported an outbreak and subsequent deaths. As of the latest count, the Philippines is probably the 40th country to report another victim.
Yesterday, the DOH held a prescon and told the media that the girl is now confined in Muntinlupa, in the government’s facility there. What is not being revealed is how the DOH is handling the case. The health department should be transparent enough so that proper precautions should be undertaken by all Filipinos living in that area.
Is the DOH ready to prevent an outbreak? And how many more unreported cases out there that the DOH and the BID (Bureau of Immigration and Deportation) failed to detect?
