Former Speaker JDV and Abalos–ZTE witnesses against GMA?

Bayan Muna is thinking of calling former Speaker Jose de Venecia jr. and former Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos as witnesses against former president Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in connection with the ZTE-NBN deal.
Teddy Casino, Bayan Muna representative, says the reason is simply practicality–if they can pin Arroyo down for misconduct, then, it would be easier for them to prove the heavier charges and probably this will lead to a more serious charge.
Casino is referring to a photo taken in Shenzhen golf club where Arroyo, JDV, the First Gentleman were seen together with ZTE officials. This “incriminating” evidence is part of the book of JDV ” Global Filipino”.
In my mind, Casino’s plan is definitely better than filing a charge that the Ombusman will just junk later on. By targetting the charge of Misconduct, that has a better chance of prosecuting Arroyo and her allies.
Curiously though, nothing has been said against former DOTC secretary Leandro Mendoza’s role in the ZTE-NBN deal. All the focus is now directed at the president, who, for all intents and purposes, probably do not know everything about the deal. What had happened to the other players in the deal, like that DOTC assistant and undersecretaries who hammered out the finer details of this deal? They should be made to answer for that.
This is the reason why Arroyo and her allies brand this Bayan Muna case a political gimmick–it lacks the honesty of really prosecuting the true wheelers and dealers and instead, just focus on the usual suspects. It would be better though for Bayan Muna and whoever will head the Commission that will prosecute Arroyo, to at least, find the time to include newer names in the charge sheet. That will give their efforts the character of an honest-to-goodness pursuit of justice instead of just a political gimmick, meant to entertain a tired and weary citizenry.
