Typhoon Basyang: DPWH will look at billboards along EDSA

July 15, 2010 § 3 Comments

DPWH secretary Babes Singson says only about 18 billboards were rolled down during Typhoon Basyang’s onslaught and about 800 billboards were left to the elements. The result? More than fifty billboards turned into road obstructions, some even affected electricity lines. This partially caused the systemic breakdown of law and order yesterday.

Singson promises to look into this and the Outdoor Advertisers Association of the Philippines (OAAP) should be held responsible for this. The industry, as I know, already made a dialogue with the former DPWH administration. Status quo daw. However, it seemed that the industry is now feeling its way.

Singson should not be too complacent with them. We must avoid disasters.
